My favorite book after the Bible—frequently given to others. Phenomenal. Filled with true stories—bringing God’s protection to life—literally. For more, read from Psalm 91 to the end of The Prayer, part 1.

3. Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund

Learn about the heart of Jesus Christ. You will be changed. See The Holy Spirit, part 1.

4. The Mitford series by Jan Karon (novels)

I’ve read this sweet, funny, inspiring series three times so far. The best.

5. Imagine Heaven by John Burke

Beautiful. Filled with hope. Read it. See the section called Resurrections—Now and Then in this post.

Current events

These two authors couldn’t be more different. One is a Christian; one is not. One is a polished writer; the other is not. Nevertheless, each book has significant value—albeit from very different backgrounds and perspectives.
