Joseph—the famine
Today on Choosing Peace you’ll read about Project 2025, the in-between years, and President Trump’s inauguration speech.
Restoration
Last time, we walked through the major turning point in Joseph’s life. I wrote these three words to describe it: Rescue. Revelation. Restoration. Joseph was rescued from prison. The Lord revealed Pharaoh’s dream interpretations to him. What about restoration? What was restored in Joseph’s life? His freedom—after many years in slavery and prison. Also, for those 13 years, Joseph had no family. None whatsoever. In part 7, we saw Joseph receive his new family—his wife and two sons.
Preparation
God prepared Joseph for this remarkable time in history, and he fully succeeded in storing massive amounts of food for the harsh famine to come. And this food had to keep not only the people alive, but also their livestock.
Let’s consider the preparation required for some recent, better-than-we-could’ve-ever-imagined events.
Did God prepare President Donald J. Trump for this remarkable time in history? Absolutely. Decades of high-level business experience—real estate, finance, personnel, negotiations, legal, media, planning. Four years of presidential experience during Term 1. Four strategic-planning and team-building years between Term 1 and Term 2.
The in-between years
Even with the strange, disturbing, criminal things that transpired during “the Biden administration,” vital things came to pass.
New voices
Alternative, conservative voices started podcasts and shows, websites, public speaking, building networks/groups, writing, making documentaries and more. And many of the people listened. We were red-pilled and left the matrix.
Legal victories—state level
Lawsuits were filed and won.
Here are just five of the many actions taken by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton last month and this month:

Find out what’s being done on your behalf (or on the Deep State’s behalf). Educate yourself and talk about these things.
Legal victories—national level
These two developments last year opened the door for things to come.
1. Executives from Smartmatic—a voting machine company—were indicted.
2. The Supreme Court struck down the doctrine of Chevron Deference. This ruling greatly weakened government agencies. Federal agencies can no longer interpret the law, enacting requirements for their own benefit—against We The People and the actual intentions of the law.
What else happened during the in-between years?
Project 2025—blueprint for success
Conservatives got serious about retaking the White House and releasing our nation from the evil globalist agenda bent on chaos, death and destruction. More than 100 conservative organizations contributed to the movement called Project 2025. What needed to be done to reclaim our country—“one nation under God”? What needed to be done to provide proper protections and rule of law honoring our United States constitution—and contributing to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? What needed to be done to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.? What needed to be done to recreate a government of the people, by the people and for the people?
The goals and questions weren’t new, but the resolve and the strategies were. (Since the 1980s, more than 350 conservative leaders contributed regularly to the policy book, Mandate for Leadership.) Read this outstanding article about Project 2025. Learn what items are on their action list. For example, Project 2025 calls for the production, distribution and consumption of pornography to be outlawed. Scroll down in the Debunking the Lies section to the Marriage and Family grouping and read why. It’s important. Then explore more as the Lord leads you.
You’ll find a number of the issues on Project 2025’s action list already being addressed by President Trump in his first week back in office. Thanks to the four-year hiatus and the hard work of thousands of patriots, he was able to hit the ground running.
The time was necessary.
And the preparation was necessary.
God knew what he was doing.
Protection
Did God’s protection become part of President Trump’s preparation? It sure did.
The attempted assassination last summer changed him. It strengthened him and gave him a powerful encounter with God Almighty.
“The journey to reclaim our republic has not been an easy one—that I can tell you. Those who wished to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and indeed—to take my life. Just a few months ago in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear. But I felt then and believe even more so now that my life was saved for a reason. Out with the old, in with the new
The speech
Last Monday, President Donald J. Trump gave a truly epic inauguration speech. For a brief summary, see this 3-minute Sky News Australia segment. The entire inauguration speech is well worth watching more than once. I noticed things the second time around that I didn’t notice when I watched it live.
These are some of my favorite parts:
♦ “We will not forget our country. We will not forget our constitution. And we will not forget our God! We can’t do that.”
♦ “First, I will declare a national emergency at our southern border. All illegal entry will immediately be halted and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”
♦ “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: Male and female.”
♦ “This week I will reinstate any service members who were unjustly expelled from our military for objecting to the COVID vaccine mandate—with full back pay.”
♦ “Together we will end the chronic disease epidemic and keep our children safe, healthy and disease-free. The United States will once again consider itself a growing nation….”
“My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier.
That’s what I want to be.”

Promises made, promises kept
This Liz Wheeler episode covers President Trump’s first 24 hours in office, including the J6 pardons, personnel actions and much more.
We were blown away by all the executive orders he signed on Day 1. And the orders carried weight.
When President Trump said he’d remove dangerous illegal aliens from our streets, he wasn’t kidding. This 10-minute Fox News piece details some immediate results. In a period of 33 hours, ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents arrested more than 460 illegal aliens, including many violent repeat offenders, such as MS-13 gang members and other criminals charged with murder, armed robbery, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, heroin trafficking and more. In the Fox report, one criminal from Haiti—a gang member with 17 criminal convictions—gave a shout-out to Biden and thanked Obama. ’Nuff said.
Adiós
What about the outgoing administration? In this 7-minute Sky News Australia piece, Josh Hammer of Newsweek clearly communicates what the American people rejected in the recent election and why, stating that the Democratic party “failed catastrophically.” Hammer describes Biden’s last-minute preemptive pardons of his family, Dr. Fauci, General Milley, etc., as “truly shameful stuff.” I highly recommend this particular Sky News broadcast. Josh Hammer says what the rest of us have been thinking. It’s a personal favorite these days.
A captured operation
Where have we been, as a nation?
From mid-March 2020 when COVID-19 was unleashed until January 19, 2025—the day before President Trump took office again, We The People were in a captured operation. We were in the throes of extreme psychological warfare and social engineering orchestrated by an evil crew—the Deep State, the black hats, the cabal, the globalists—or globalístas, as I like to call them. (Start at the Psychological Warfare section and read to the end of this post. It will encourage you about God’s remnant in the face of evil.)
What we needed
We don’t like to admit it, but we needed those in-between years. We needed to come out of our own little bubbles. We needed to wake up to The Big Picture of our nation—and our world. We needed to acknowledge the epic battle of Good vs. Evil raging around us.
We needed to speak up. We needed to get involved.
We needed to pray. We needed to care.
The in-your-face evil
What am I talking about? Consider these realities.
Pediatric gender clinics—I mean mutilation wards. BLM. Censorship and the Cancel Culture. Organ harvesting. Fentanyl and other illegal drugs. Epstein’s satanic pedophilia/blackmail ring and Diddy’s drugging/raping blackmail operation. COVID-19. Personal pronouns. Election fraud. Abortion. Pride Month. The open border and crime. Federal agencies weaponized against We The People. Adrenochrome and U.S. biolabs in Ukraine. Trafficking. Lawfare. Satanism in Hollywood. DEI. Sexual content in elementary schools. Unconstitutional surveillance of citizens. Vaccine mandates and passports. The pornography epidemic. Sanctuary cities. Corporate America’s required Transgender Sensitivity Training. Etcetera. We needed to become strong and courageous. We really needed those in-between years—from COVID to the end of the Biden debacle.
God’s presence
And Joseph needed his in-between years too. Even though he spent those 13 long years in slavery and prison, that’s not the most significant part of the story so far. In Genesis, chapter 39, the Bible mentions four times that the Lord was with Joseph. Four times! Words are repeated in the Bible for special emphasis. The Lord’s presence with Joseph was given turbo-charged emphasis.
The famine
So, what happened when the famine began?
Then the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was food. When all the land of Egypt experienced the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh said to all Egypt, “Go to Joseph. Whatever he says to you, do.”
So the famine was over all the surface of the land. Then Joseph opened all the storehouses of grain and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. And all the countries came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all the earth.
Genesis 41:54-57, New Heart English Bible
Did you notice the repetition? In these two short paragraphs, the word famine is used six times. Six times. And the word severe is used twice. How about the word all? It’s used seven times. Moses, the writer of Genesis—inspired by the Holy Spirit—painted a vivid picture for us.
We can’t begin to imagine the severity or the vastness of this famine.
It was extreme. It was planned. It was necessary.
Leaving and staying
Jacob, now called Israel, sent his 10 sons down to Egypt to buy grain. They were desperate. But Jacob—I mean Israel—didn’t send Joseph’s younger brother Benjamin, commenting, “Some harm might happen to him” (Genesis 42:4b, NHEB). Thinking Joseph was dead all these years, Israel was protective of the one remaining son of his beloved Rachel.
The generational sin that violently fractured this family—the sin of parental favoritism—remained. From part 3:
Unfortunately, Jacob experienced The Ripple Effect of sin. He displayed parental favoritism just like his parents did. This particular sin literally tears families apart. It creates an Us vs. Them reality inside the family—a very destructive and dangerous thing.
Face-to-face
Let’s end with this verse, because things are about to get very interesting.
Now Joseph was the ruler over the country, and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the ground.

Talk about a reversal of fortune, like we encountered last time. This one is epic. Joseph’s 10 brothers were in a foreign land, staring at the floor, without the foggiest idea who they were bowing down to. Joseph knew who stood before him, but they didn’t have a clue.
